One of the most disheartening facts about the lack of access to clean water in Zambia is that so often the solutions are just a few dollars away. For under $2000, a well can be installed in a village serving up to 8000 people for almost 100 years.
In Zambia, more than one third of the population does not have access to clean water. Water is a daily and crippling challenge. Without water you can't grow food, you can't build housing, you can't stay healthy. The infant mortality rates are so high in the regions we work in that children's birthday's aren't celebrated until they have survived until the age of 5.
Women and children often bear the burden of walking miles each day to find water in streams and ponds, full of water-borne disease that is making them and their families sick. The lack of safety on the water paths create physical danger as women and children risk rape and abuse each time they travel. The lack of clean water robs entire communities of their futures.
You can change that.
You can change that.
April 2020 update: Zambian people are rejoicing because we just finished 10 wells!!!! They will have clean water for the first time in their lives!
Thank you Billy Mate for helping oversee all of this! We could not do this without you! Now we have a total of 76 wells done over the last 10 years!! God is so good and all of you generous beautiful friends helped with your generous hearts. Access to safe clean water is the key to the development of any community. Safe and reliable water restores hope and unlocks potential. We look forward to hitting our goal of 100 Wells by 2023. |
